The primary related service provided by Starting Point Services for Children is speech and language therapy to preschool students through the Committee on Preschool Special Education (CPSE) process. Our speech therapists are New York State licensed Teachers of Students with Speech and Language Disabilities (TSSLD). Most of our therapists also hold a New York State professional license in Speech-Language Pathology (SLP). Speech and language therapists provide instructions that are designed to help maximize educational benefit through the coordination of general education and special education techniques.
Our speech therapists will promote growth of the parent/caregiver as the primary agent for change in the student through the creation of a warm and encouraging relationship, routine reports of progress and the provision of specific strategies and activities to enhance each student’s development while building a home school connection.
